“Cairde Maithe” is looking to recruit volunteers to visit with a matched person with dementia in their area. The project is to support social inclusion and to encourage reactivating links to the community that may have been lost in the process of the dementia diagnosis. Cairde Maithe means good friends and this concept is at the very core of what we are hoping to develop through this new volunteer visiting project. We want to match volunteers with a person with dementia in their area with similar interest, hobbies and pass times and we hope to create lifelong and lasting friendships in the process. In doing so it is our aim to help combat the stigma and loneliness associated with living with dementia.
