Avondhu Blackwater Partnership intend to run the following short, part-time course for job seekers in the Mallow area during April and May 2017:  (Places limited and recruiting now).  

The training will run on Monday and Friday mornings for 6 mornings from 9.00am-1.00pm in Mallow.  (See contact details below to register your interest and to find out more details)

The training is a foundation/introductory course in Office and Reception Skills for those considering work in areas such as:

  • A receptionist and front line office representative
  • A call centre operative
  • An office administrator
  • A customer care operative
  • Any position that requires strong communication and customer care skills

Recruiting immediately.  Maximum 12 places available.  

The course is aimed at job seekers and is designed to help you meet the needs of an employer in this area of employment. It is likely to suit both younger job seekers and those who are returning to the workforce with minimum experience.  It is especially suitable for those who think they would like to work in the area of office or reception roles, hotel or retail positions, and in general employment positions where high quality customer care and communication skills are required.

‘Often individuals will have a sense that they are ‘good with people’ or that they might like to work in customer facing roles, but they may not really be interested in embarking on a fully accredited training course in one particular direction, until they become clearer on their options and preferences through personalised career support’, says Caitriona Horgan Development Officer with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership.    ‘Often job seekers will consider a short introductory course which paves the way for further supports on a one-to-one basis or further training or indeed directly to employment.  This training offers a place where they can explore options without commitment and develop employment relevant skills, which then opens up ideas and pathways that they might otherwise not have considered. The training is very manageable with practical support to develop the relevant skills and the course content covers a lot of ground in a short space of time’.   Any job seeker (whether on the live register or not) who think they may be interested, is very welcome to contact me to discuss their need, the training is free of charge and does not affect social welfare payments’  she said.  

The training will include

  • A strong element of basic office IT, with focus on use of email and Microsoft Word and Excel for Electronic file storage and retrieval
  • Verbal, written and electronic communication and customer care skills for a variety of customer facing roles  
  • Support to explore individual skills, interests and opportunities.  To prepare a CV and to put a personal  plan in place for the participants’ next steps towards further education or employment
  • A supportive and personalised learning environment.

The course is FREE of charge to job seekers (fully funded by SICAP).
