We are calling on O’Keeffes and their descendants from all over the world to come to Dromtarriffe, Kanturk, Co Cork to visit their ancestral home. Duhallow has been the principal home of the O’ Keeffes since the Normans pushed most of them westwards from the Fermoy and Glanworth areas of east Cork, in the 12th century. They grew in status there among the local McDonough, McCarthy and O’Callaghan clans, building at least four castles until they were dispossessed by Cromwellian forces in the mid-17th century. Many O’ Keeffes immigrated from Duhallow and made their mark all around the world.
Come and celebrate your roots with us. Meet long lost family and friends .A very exciting week-end is planned for September next. On Friday night registration will include the official opening by our Clan Chieftain, Dan Joe O’ Keeffe followed by some of the best music, song, and dance that Sliabh Luachra has to offer. On Saturday, clan members and their friends may embark on bus tours to local historical sites followed by a clan dinner in The Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet. Again a great night of entertainment is planned. On Sunday, a Mass of Remembrance and visit to the castle will bring proceedings to a close.
All are welcome!
