Avondhu Blackwater Partnership have been involved in the delivery of the Towards Occupation Programme in Buttevant since the start of March 2017.

The Towards Occupation Programme is aimed at people who are distant from the employment market and who are in receipt of a social welfare payment. It is specifically targeted at those individuals feeling isolated, and lacking in self-esteem. Its design assists participants in the development of the skills and confidence required to move into education, training, voluntary work, employment, or any number of other directions.

The Programme is being delivered by Elizabeth Garry Brosnan, CoachAcademy Plus with a focus on personal development, goal setting, developing career progression plans, as well as practical work aimed at boosting self confidence.

An example of this practical work is a Coffee Morning organised by the group. Scheduled for Friday the 19th of May at the Mercy Centre in Buttevant from 10:30 – 12:30. Raffle cards have been circulated throughout the town and a draw will take place on the morning.  All proceeds raised by the group will go to the Simon Community and the services they provide to homeless people.
