Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is pleased to announce the return of its successful Towards Occupation Programme to Buttevant. Are you experiencing emotional and/or mental health challenges? Have you experienced a set-back in life? Have you been out of work for a long period of time? Would you like to boost your confidence and self-esteem? Would you like to bring about positive change in your life? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Towards Occupation may be for you. The programme is aimed at people who are distant from the employment market and who are in receipt of a social welfare payment. It is specifically targeting at those individuals feeling isolated, and lacking in self-esteem. Its design assists participants in the development of the skills and confidence required to move into education, training, voluntary work, employment, or any number of other directions. “Through our community work, we have identified that there is an ongoing need for this type of training programme in Buttevant,” said Mary Gubbins, Development Officer at Avondhu Blackwater Partnership. Participants will be supported as they explore a range of new skills and set achievable goals, while also focusing on confidence-building, communication skills and increasing self-belief. At the end of the programme, it is envisaged that participants will feel more confident, aware and energised about their career, direction and life opportunities, resulting in greater positive developments and more stress-free living. Provided in cooperation with the Department of Social Protection, The HSE and Cork ETB, the programme is expected to run two mornings per week from Spring to Summer 2016.
