Avondhu Blackwater Partnership Community Handyman Service will continue for older people until we receive notice to cease delivering the service. However the Friendly Call service will continue to be delivered and we will be giving out contact details for the community volunteer groups to our participants who might need essential provisions delivered etc.
Family members may be isolating themselves and we would suggest that contact via a phone call, skype or facetime or other means from family and friends may be very welcome for older people at this time.
You are probably aware of people in your community who have a personal monitored alarm but perhaps don’t wear their wrist button or pendant as a rule. We would appreciate if you could remind family members or neighbours to wear their pendant in case of any emergency. Anyone wishing to now apply for a monitored alarm can do so by telephoning Mary at 085 1068 789.
To speed things up applications will be taken over the phone and can be followed up later with forms etc. Emergency Response have a three/four working day turnaround for emergency applications, all others have a 10 working day turnaround. All relevant information re the Senior Alert Scheme and Community Connect will be given to the older people/family members when they make the call to 085/1068789 re the service and details of local community volunteers willing to carry out shopping trips, prescription pick-up etc. for those who need to remain in their home. Keep safe everybody and don’t venture out unnecessarily.
