Announcing New Opportunity for Young People- FREE Online Filmmaking

During these uncertain times we at ‘Cork Young Filmmakers’ want to ensure that young filmmakers continue to have access to enjoyable hands-on professional workshops, developing their filmmaking skills while staying safely at home and keeping entertained. We are delighted to invite applications now to these online filmmaking courses. This year thanks to funding from Cork County Council the workshops are free.

For budding filmmakers, being confined to home does not mean all projects need to be put on pause!

During Summer 2020 Cork Young Filmmakers with Cork County Council and The Arts Council are for the first time offering Free Online Film Making Courses for Young Peopleage 14 to 18, who are living in the Cork County area. These four courses will run from June 29th to July 24th. You must apply in advance to participate.

Are you interested in making films this summer? Learning top tips and developing your skills through practical exercises and workshops, using your own camera or even your smartphone?

This series of online workshops will provide anyone in this age bracket with an interest in filmmaking the opportunity to work as part of a group with professional filmmakers. The online forum will provide support and encouragement.

Cork Film Centre’s experienced tutors and professional filmmakers will connect to participants via Zoom to mentor them through the process of making short films from start to finish, using whatever equipment they have available.

A small group of budding filmmakers, 10 in each workshop, will join the tutors online over a ten-day period and focus on particular areas of filmmaking to gain essential skills and knowledge. These online workshops are perfect for emerging filmmakers looking to be part of a creative online community.

The workshop provides an opportunity to

·         meet other young people who are into filmmaking ·         work in a team ·          build a network ·         share skills ·         make two short films. ·         get lots of filmmaking experience
