Rural Transport Programme

Avondhu Blackwater Partnership is one of 37 groups nationwide mandated to develop and co-ordinate community based transport services. Using funding from the Department of Transport’s ‘Rural Transport Programme’ and the Dormant Accounts Fund, the aim of the Rural Transport project is to promote social inclusion in the Avondhu Blackwater area through supporting the establishment and development of affordable and accessible transport to meet the needs of local people. It seeks to improve access, especially for those who are most marginalised, to essential services, training/employment opportunities and recreational facilities.

Rural Community Bus Service:
30 weekly services operate from rural communities to Mallow, Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Blarney, Ballincollig, Midleton or Cork and 1 service which operates Monday to Friday from Fermoy to Mallow.

Dial-A-Lift:
A subsided hackney service for people with a disability, particularly for people with mobility impairment.

Fermoy Community Bus Project:
A shared bus for use by community and voluntary groups in the Fermoy area.
